Meet Kalen
My dad raised every kid with a rod in our hands, so you can say that I was born into fishing. Growing up in Pacifica, CA - my local spot was right on the docks. That’s where I grew up fishing the ocean with family and friends, learning to read tides and swells before I ever learned the current of the river.
At the age of 12, we moved to Southern Oregon and the Rogue became home. And it’s been home ever since. I love the water as much as I love having a line in it.
I have almost a decade of commerical time on the oars - guiding, rowing, learning on the Rogue, Klamath and Umpqua Rivers. I wanted to do this right, so I earned my USCG Captian’s License and my Wilderness First Responder Certification. When you’re in my boat, you’re in safe, licensed, professional hands - even when we’re miles from the ramp.
From May until August, you’ll find me on Class IV+ whitewater, raft guiding the big stuff and honing my oar skills. The rest of the year? I’m fishing and with family. Thats the life I wanted and built it right here on the Rogue.
I started this guide service because I wanted to fish at the river’s pace - slow down, teach, enjoy the river and share all it has to offer instead of just grinding through it. Whether you’ve never held a rod or you’ve held one your whole life, you’re welcome in my boat.
Come fish with me. Or just float and see why I’ve never left.
